When first hearing Sydney Wayser, aka CLARA-NOVA, you’ll hear her breathy vocals and husky voice that remind you of Florence Welch but with an Ellie Goulding electro vibe. Her music project is a revolutionary french sound that breaks the rules in today’s contemporary electronica scene. “Echo” will be released on February 2 from her new EP Iron Age, which is out March 2 on Kobalt Recordings. Indie pop band Dark Honey, based out of upstate New York, is comprised of brothers Jimi, Ben, and Joe Woodul and mutual friend and colleague Dan DeKalb. After a brief stint living down South, the band reconvened in NYC recently.
Their colorful indie pop/rock blend will see them to the Rockwood Music Hall stage on November 7. Their song “Stinging Nettle” is a staple of the band’s and it depicts falling down and the pride of getting up again when troubles hit. The song was featured on Spotify and the Weekly Buzz. Matt Friedman and Scott Mellis aka The Brinks are turning over a new leaf. The duo, who has been together for a few years now, have been catching the attention of rappers Pharell and Pusha T. Now the band is slightly switching up their tune to a more alt/pop sound. Check their new tune out for “Honey” below off their next upcoming project. They promise more new music coming out later this year.
Upcoming Interscope artist, Saint Mesa, aesthetically pleases our ear buds here at Modern Frequency. His art comes across strong in his videos and is reminiscent of a young Gotye. Imagine Dragons feel like they crossed over to the pop nether lands with their new song called “Thunder”. This is the second single from their upcoming brand new album. Dan Reynolds is taking a front seat with this video and song stealing the rest of the band’s thunder, no pun intended. Lynn Gunn, Alex Babinski, and Brian MacDonald are collectively known as PVRIS. Their dark undertones of their last album, White Noise, are seeping back up on their upcoming highly anticipated new record, which will be released sometime this year. Their new single “Heaven” was just released on BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show. Front woman of the band Lynn Gunn, though, says that the new album has “a few new elements added to it.” Check out “Heaven” below.

The band describes their new record as “summer and Italian discos”. The french quartet is scheduled to play New York’s Governors Ball this summer.
